The task at hand is to save the world from a once kind-hearted scientist gone bad, who has now become insane from a hit to the head…clearly a knock to the head did not give this doctor any sense. Pop ‘n TwinBee puts players in the shoes or rather seat of the spacecrafts of TwinBee and WinBee. And of course to my surprise Pop ‘n TwinBee seems to be from the same franchise. One such title that I absolutely adored was TwinBee. See, as I mentioned before although I never had the opportunity to play NES and SNES titles growing up, the bootleg cartridges did have titles from the famicom (Golden China) era. I have to admit, the thing that specifically drew me towards this game was the name. This time I’ve come across the fun-loving adorable Pop ‘n TwinBee for the SNES. Hence I often find myself browsing the Nintendo eShop’s Virtual Console selection. The games I did have access to were mostly bootlegs of the NES and SNES titles. So when opportunity strikes, I always take it. The Japanese version has multiple endings depending on the player's performance.Growing up in the 90s here in South Africa I never really had the opportunity to play titles on the NES and SNES.The European version exclusively uses passwords for back-up, the Japanese one uses primarily a battery back-up, but the passwords are also an option.Cinnamon and the pilots (Light, Pastel and Mint) at the level select screen in the European version were deleted. In the European version, the order is strictly linear and a specific level can't be accessed if the previous ones aren't cleared. Some stages have alternate exits, similar to Super Mario World. The level order in the Japanese version is a set of levels arranged in a quadrilateral form, with an interconnection between different stages. The game also features a versus mode, in which players must defeat their opponents for three rounds. Unlike other Twinbee games, the bells are obtained by defeating enemies instead of shooting clouds.

The bell power-up from the rest of the series also appears here, and it allows any of the characters to obtain various kinds of power-ups, depending of the color of the bell, such as the sets of weapons, the gun, speed, options and invincibility. All three can temporally fly in eight directions by propelling via a rocket pack that must be charged (Similar to an earlier Konami title: Rocket Knight Adventures), as well as hover.Īside from their weapons, the major difference between the characters is the time they require to fully charge their punch wave or their rocket propeller: Twinbee has an average charging time Winbee charges her rocket propeller the fastest, but takes the most to charge a punch wave Gwinbee, on the other hand, fills charges his punch quickly, but takes a while to charge his propeller. They have two sets of weapons, one of them is either a short or long-ranged weapon, and the other one is a gun, which is a reference to Detana!! Twinbee cutscene, in which Twinbee is shown with two guns on each hand. All characters use their punch to attack, which can be charged to unleash a punch wave. Rainbow Bell Adventures is a typical side-scrolling platformer, in which either Twinbee, Winbee or Gwinbee must get to the end of a stage. They're also was re-released for Wii U Virtual Console on May 2014 in Japan. Rainbow Bell Adventures is a side-scrolling platform game, the first departure in a series of mostly vertically scrolling shooter games. Released first in Japan, it later appeared in Europe in Jaunary 1994. Pop'n TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventures is a video game published and developed by Konami, released for the Super Nintendo.
